Leadership Program

Your team supports clients through some of the hardest moments they will face. This program offers a shared way of stepping into their highest communication and leadership, to be the best support to themselves, those they work with, and those they serve.

Who this is for

CAST is the only organization in Los Angeles with housing built for survivors of human trafficking. This program is for the people who run it.

Two houses carry the work. Hummingbird Haven, for the first nights out of a trafficking situation. Mariposa Haven, for the longer climb back. For many survivors, the first safe sleep in a long time happens under this team's care.

Twelve staff. Three managers. Case managers, shelter advocates, assistant case managers. They handle safety, counseling, food, paperwork, and the trust that has to come before any of it lands. The work runs around the clock, and most of the people who walk in are still in crisis.

A team carrying that has to communicate as well with each other as they do with the people they serve. When the team frays, the care frays. That is what this protects.

The Program

Beyond communication, surfacing who we are as leaders, identifying our natural skills, and bringing them forward, across three connected parts.

Leadership Session

A full day with your three managers, focused on communication and leadership.

Team Session

A full day with the full team, focused on communication health.

Component 3

Accountability

Three months of coaching and check-ins, so the practices have room to settle in.

Moving from case management into leadership is a real shift, and managing former colleagues brings questions of its own. The day works through both.

The core teaching. It includes the Drive / Vision / Goals methodology, which surfaces the highest ideals of leadership and works through them one at a time.

Defining the terms of your boundary and how it fits with our purpose; then a guided Wrap-Up rapid release of our conditioned patterns.

Q&A

A closing sweep to address anything the day did not yet reach.

Anchored throughout in communication, accountability, and responsibility, with journaling to surface limiting beliefs.

Team Session

COMMUNICATION HEALTH  ·  8 HOURS  ·  WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF THE LEADERSHIP SESSION

The same structure as the leadership session, with a focus on communicating and active listening, for healthy relationships and behaviors to avoid.

THREE MONTHS  ·  BEGINS AFTER THE TEAM SESSION

A single day teaches new patterns, retaining them takes longer. Keep the rest.

Manager coaching

A coaching call with each manager every other week, putting the leadership skills to work, surfacing deeper patterns in private, and working through live challenges.

WhatsApp access

A dedicated channel for the full team, offering guidance in the moment.

Team support

Any team member may request a private 30-minute coaching call.

Monthly reviews

Two separate one-hour video calls each month, one with managers, one with the team, to review the month and adjust for the next.

What changes

The work is not the two days. It is what holds after. Here is what that looks like, out in the open, where anyone can see it.

People stay

Turnover is the most expensive thing in this work. In shelter and domestic violence work, more than three in ten staff leave in a year. Replacing one runs a third to half of their salary, more for a manager. Every exit takes training, trust, and continuity of care with it. The program goes after what drives good people out. The cliques. The blame. The worn-down trust.

Fewer fires reach you

Most of what lands on a director's desk is a conversation two people could not finish. Managers learn to finish them. Fewer reach you.

Managers who can manage

Three people were moved into leadership without the tools for it. They get the tools. They run their own accountability conversations, and they hold the line.
